Data fields 1-5
This is where users may store information such as a contact's name or double-opt-in status.
Lists
Contacts with only a mobile number may have been separated out into different lists in the old SMS area. For example, a list might be named "have double-opt-in" or after a particular campaign “Summer Sale 2022”.
To preserve this information through the export, delete, and re-import process, follow these steps:
For information stored in data fields
These steps are for users undertaking scenario 1 or scenario 2 of our migration instructions.
Complete these instructions before Step 5. Remove duplicate contacts.
Go to Audience > Segments.
Find the Potential duplicates segments, then select Refresh.
Once the refresh is complete, select the Potential duplicates checkbox.
Select Display, and ensure the information you want to keep is visible in the segment columns.
Expand the EXPORT menu, then select Export all.
Download and store the file safely.
Go back to Scenario 1 or 2, whichever you are following.
When completing 6. Import your contacts to match data, ensure the fields you want to import are in your import CSV and are mapped.
For information stored in lists
These steps are for users undertaking scenario 1 or scenario 2 of our migration instructions.
Complete these instructions before step 5. Remove duplicate contacts.
Go to Audience > Lists.
Select the list you want to keep data from.
Expand the EXPORT menu, then select Export all.
Download and store the file safely.
Then, once you’ve completed the merging process, go back to the lists from which your mobile-only contacts have been removed.
For each list you exported, reimport the contacts into the lists. You must map
mobilenumberid
only.
