Export contacts from Microsoft Outlook

Overview

Before exporting a contact list from an email client for upload into your account, you'll need to make sure that your email client supports exporting to either an Excel spreadsheet or a Comma Separated Values (.csv) file.

Microsoft Outlook can support exporting to both types of files. We provide instructions below on how to do this for different Outlook versions.

Exporting contacts from Outlook 2013/2016

  1. Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and select Next
  3. Choose Comma Separated Values and select Next
  4. In the Select folder to export from box, choose the Contacts folder that's under your account and select Next
  5. Under Save exported file as, select Browse to choose the folder to put the exported file into, enter the file name, and select OK.
  6. In the Export to a File window, confirm where your new exported contacts file will be saved by selecting Next
  7. Select Finish

Exporting contacts from Outlook 2010

  1. Go to File > Options > Advanced.
  2. Under Export, select Export.
  3. From the Import and Export wizard, select Export to a file and select Next
  4. Choose the file type – either Comma Separated Values (Windows), or Microsoft Excel. Then select Next.
  5. In the Select folder to export from box, select the Contacts folder that's under your account and click Next.
  6. Under Save exported file as, select Browse and choose the folder to put the exported file into, enter the file name, and select OK
  7. In the Export to a File window, select Next.
  8. Select Finish.

Exporting contacts from Outlook 2007

  1. Go to File > Import and Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and select Next
  3. Choose the file type – either Comma Separated Values (Windows), or Microsoft Excel. After doing so, click Next.
  4. In the Select folder to export from box, select the Contacts folder that's under your account and selectNext
  5. Select Browse and choose the folder to put the exported file into, enter the file name, and select OK.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Select Finish.

Exporting contacts from Outlook Express

  1. Go to File > ExportAddress Book.
  2. Select Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then select Export.
  3. Enter the desired file name and click Next. You can also select Browse to choose the folder into which the exported file will be put.
  4. Choose the fields that you want to include for contacts in the file and click Finish.
