If you want to update to the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics and are using the Dotdigital for Microsoft Dynamics connector, you need to contact us so that we can help you to ensure that your connector continues working as expected.

The actions that need to be completed by our connector team depend on how the update is being performed. Not every Dynamics upgrade is the same, but in this article we list the two common scenarios that we see most frequently.

If you have further questions, contact our Support team.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • The connector supports versions 2013, 2015, 2016 and Dynamics 365 (5.x to 9.x).

Contact Dotdigital

To start the process for updating Microsoft Dynamics, reach out to your Customer Success representative. They can help scope out which update scenario you fall under so that we can allocate the proper resources to you. A link is provided to either a new sign-up form or your existing one so you can provide us with all the necessary details.

Existing system/instance

If you have an existing instance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM which is already connected to a Dotdigital account, you must update your connectivity form. Review all the options that have been previously submitted and update them as needed.

Connectivity form

  • CRM Settings

  • Connector Service Account

Package

A new package might be required. This depends on which version you are upgrading from and to.

Things to consider

  • If a new package is required, does this need to be installed and tested on a Dotdigital Sandbox account before Production?

Do you have an existing Dotdigital Sandbox account? Is one needed?

  • Your Go Live date - you need to factor in an appropriate amount of time for any testing required.

New system/instance

If you are moving to a new instance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM which is not currently connected to a Dotdigital account, then a new connectivity form must be submitted. The standard provisioning and configuration process will need to be performed for each environment this update is performed on.

Connectivity form

  • Contacts (Technical and Business)

  • Installation requirements

  • CRM settings

  • Connector Service Account

Things to consider

  • When will your old Microsoft Dynamics instance be disconnected?

  • Which environments does the update need to be performed on?

  • Do you have an existing Dotdigital Sandbox account? Is one needed?

  • The Go Live date for the new instance - you need to factor in an appropriate amount of time for the installation, configuration any testing required.

Running Dynamics 365 version 8.x?

If you are updating from version 8.x to a more current version (9.x) no action is needed.
