You can synchronise your Marketing Lists from Microsoft Dynamics to Dotdigital so that when you add a new contact or lead in either platform, they both update and are kept inline.

In this article, we show you how to set up a Marketing List for successful synchronisation of new Dotdigital contacts into Microsoft Dynamics.

Create a Marketing List to sync with Dotdigital

Before you add any contacts to Dotdigital, you must first create a Marketing List in Microsoft Dynamics. This creates a list in the linked Dotdigital account and populates these with contacts from your Marketing List.

Learn how to create a Marketing List in Microsoft Dynamics in Create and synchronise marketing lists in Microsoft Dynamics.

Email Settings and Sync Settings

To make sure your marketing list syncs with a Dotdigital list, you must set up your marketing list with the following settings:

Setting

Option

Activated for email

Yes

Member type

Contact

or

Lead

Type

Static - static lists can sync contacts from both Dotdigital to Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Dynamics to Dotdigital.

On Sync

Allow only known contacts to be added to this list

or

Add all address book members to this list as contacts

Address book is the previous name for a list in Dotdigital.

Dotdigital list

After you synchronise the Marketing List with the correct settings, a list with the same name will exist in Dotdigital.

When you create new contacts within this Dotdigital list, they are synchronised back to Microsoft Dynamics.

Existing signup forms and surveys

You must update the settings of any existing signup forms or surveys to make sure they add new contacts to the correct Dotdigital list and Microsoft Dynamics is kept up-to-date.
