Initial limits and warm-up period

When you start using WhatsApp for business, you cannot send messages to large audiences immediately.

Once your Business Portfolio is verified, your WhatsApp account starts with a default limit of 1,000 messages per day. This limit can only be increased gradually by consistently sending high-quality messages.

To increase your messaging limit, you must initiate conversations with unique customers over a rolling 7-day period:

  • Tier 1 to Tier 2 (1K to 10K): Initiate conversations with 500 unique customers

  • Tier 2 to Tier 3 (10K to 100K): Initiate conversations with 5,000 unique customers

  • Tier 3 to Tier 4 (100K to unlimited): Initiate conversations with 50,000 unique customers.

Each tier upgrade requires reaching the specified number of unique customer conversations within a rolling 7-day period while maintaining message quality and compliance.

Key points to remember

  • Daily limit exceeded

If you exceed your daily messaging limit, your messages will not be delivered, and you will not be charged.

  • Avoid over-sending

Even though undelivered messages are not charged, it is important not to continue sending messages once the limit is reached.

  • Check limits

You can monitor your daily messaging limits in WhatsApp Manager under the Phone Numbers section.
