Integrate Typeform with Dotdigital

Connect Typeform and start using its forms to add contacts to your account.

Typeform lets you create conversational style forms. Use our Typeform integration to connect your Typeform account to your Dotdigital account and start using your Typeform signup forms to add new contacts.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You must have a Typeform account with a form already created.

  • Your Typeform form must have at least one email type question.

1. Find the Typeform integration

  1. Go to Connect > Integrations.

  2. In the left menu, under SHOW, select Self-serve.

  3. Find Typeform, then select +ADD.

  4. In the side panel, select INSTALL.

2. Connect Typeform to Dotdigital

  1. Read the integration information, then select NEXT.

  2. Select New authentication.

  3. Enter a name for the authentication, then select CREATE.

  4. In the window that opens, sign in to your Typeform account, and select Accept to allow access to the integration.

  5. Select NEXT.

3. Settings

  1. Under Settings, expand the Select form drop-down menu and choose the signup form you want to connect to your Dotdigital account.

  2. Select NEXT.

  3. Expand the Select a list drop-down menu, and choose a list to add contacts to.

  4. Select NEXT.

4. Map your data fields

Under Field mapping, you can map the answers to your Typeform form's questions to data fields in your Dotdigital account.

Email and phone number data fields are mapped automatically to the email and mobile number fields in Dotdigital.

To map your additional data fields:

  1. Expand the Questions drop-down menu and choose the question you want to map to a data field.

  2. Expand the Data fields drop-down menu and choose the data field you want to map the answer to.

  3. To map more data fields, select ADD A NEW MAPPING.

  4. Select NEXT.

  5. Expand the DoubleOpt-in drop-down menu and choose Yes or No to decide whether you want to force your new contacts to use double opt-in.

  6. Select FINISH.

From now on, any new Typeform form submissions automatically create new contacts in your Dotdigital account.

Sync variable and hidden fields

In addition to mapping visible form questions, you can also sync variable and hidden fields from your Typeform form. These fields allow you to pass additional metadata such as a score, campaign ID, or event reference along with the form submission.

For example, if a customer submits a feedback form, hidden data can be used to identify which event the feedback relates to.

Hidden fields aren’t shown to respondents on the form, but their values are captured and synced to Dotdigital when the form is submitted.

When you select ADD A NEW MAPPING in the Field mapping section, any hidden or variable fields from your Typeform form appear in the Questions drop-down menu. These are clearly labelled as (hidden field) to distinguish them from visible form questions.

You can map a hidden field in the same way as a standard question:

1. Select the hidden field from the Questions drop-down menu.

2. Choose the Dotdigital data field you want to map the value to.

3. Continue with the setup and finish the integration.
