Before you start
Things you need to know:
You can’t sync customers and subscribers to the same list, ensuring that they always remain separate.
Send campaigns only to subscribers
Some of your customers might not have opted in to your marketing messages when they bought a product from your store.
To conform to international email spam laws and best email marketing practice, and to maintain a good sending reputation, make sure that you send campaigns only to the Store subscribers list. These are the contacts who have consented to receive your email marketing campaigns.
Choose lists for subscribers and customers
Go to Connect and select the Salesforce Commerce Cloud tile under Installed integrations and extensions.
Under Contacts:
Expand the Sync subscribers to drop-down menu and select the list you want to sync your subscribers to.
Expand the Sync customers to drop-down menu and select the list you want to sync your customers to.
Select SAVE.
Recording consent for your contacts
Consent is an agreement between you and your contacts about your intentions with their personal data.

.
You can capture consent for your contacts using one of the following:
A signup form
An embedded form (Surveys, pages, and forms)
The API
The manual in-app importer
