Reporting for product notifications allows you to see how well your customers are engaging with your back in stock messaging, as well as giving you insight into which of your products are in high demand, helping you manage stock levels and improve customer satisfaction.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • Back in stock notifications are considered transactional messages. This means that customers who have signed up for back in stock notifications have not necessarily consented to receive marketing communications from you.

  • That means that customers signed up to back in stock notifications:

    • are not unsubscribed from a product notification if they unsubscribe from your marketing communications.

    • do not appear in your lists or segments unless they have separately signed up to your marketing communications, or have been imported to your account by other means, for example, they have been synced from your ecommerce system because they placed an order.

⚠️It’s your responsibility to ensure that you are only sending marketing communications to contacts who have consented to receive them.

Access the report

  1. Go to Analytics > Reports.

  2. Expand the MORE REPORTS drop-down menu and select Product notifications.

Report summary

The report summary page displays:

  • The catalog that the notification is linked to.

  • The notification type.
    Currently Back in stock only.

  • The channel the notification is sent by.
    Currently Email only.

  • The date the notification was created.

  • The number of customers currently signed up to the notification.

  • The last date that the notification was sent.

  • The status of the notification.
    Either Enabled or Disabled.

Detailed report

To view the drilldown report for a notification, select the catalog name on the summary page.

Reporting tiles

Across the top of the report you can see five tiles displaying top-level reporting metrics:

  • Total emails sent

  • Total emails delivered

  • Percentage of emails delivered

  • Total emails clicked

  • Percentage emails clicked.

These metrics apply per email sent. This means that if a single contact subscribes to two different out of stock products, and both products come back into stock, they are sent two emails. Both of these email sends, and any related interactions, are reflected in the report.

Customer lists

Under Customers, you can see two tabs:

  • Awaiting notifications
Customers who have signed up to a notification which has not yet been sent.

  • Sent notifications
Customers who have been sent a notification.

If a customer has signed up to notifications for multiple out of stock products they appear multiple times in the list; once for each product they have signed up to.

Each tab displays the customer email address, product details, and date that the notification was subscribed to. The Sent notifications tab also displays the date that the notification was sent to the customer.

Deleted products

If you use Magento/Adobe Commerce, any products that have been deleted from your catalog are displayed as Product removed. For Shopify and BigCommerce, product information is still displayed for deleted products.

Select the Subscribed date header to sort the list by this date. Select the header again to toggle between ascending or descending date order.

Select DISPLAY to change which columns are shown, then select APPLY to confirm.

Any changes to displayed columns are also applied to exports of this data.
