Learn to use the performance comparison overview to generate a visual comparison of your campaigns’ performance.
Overview
The Performance comparison overview lets you select campaigns to view and compare side-by-side on our campaign comparison table.
Compare campaigns
To compare your campaigns:
- Go to Analytics > Channel analytics > Reports: Email.
- Select the checkboxes of campaigns you want to compare.
You must select at least two campaigns. There is no maximum.
- Select COMPARE CAMPAIGNS to open the Campaign comparison page with your selected campaigns.
Understand the metrics in the report
The information shown in each comparison chart is split into two sections: general information and performance information about the campaign.
General information
The first half of the campaign data contains general information about your campaigns:
Label | Description |
Subject | The subject line of the campaign. |
From name | The from name and email address used to send the campaign. |
Filter | Any filters you have applied to the results. Select the icon to add filters. |
Last sent date | The date the campaign was last sent to a contact. |
Performance information
The second half of the campaign data contains performance information about your campaigns:
Label | Description |
Emails sent | Number of emails sent. |
Emails delivered | Number of emails that were delivered successfully. |
Unique opens | Number of times the email was opened by a unique contact. |
Opens | Number of opens all-round. |
Social network opens | Number of opens the campaign got after being shared on a social media site. |
Non openers | Number of contacts who didn’t open the campaign. |
Unique user click through | Number of contacts who clicked at least one link in the campaign. |
Link clicks | Number of clicks a link in the campaign received. |
Click to open rate | Compares the number of unique clicks to unique opens. |
Page views | Number of contacts who viewed a page on your website as a result of using a link in the campaign. |
Revenue | Amount of direct revenue attributable to the campaign.To learn more, check out the article Revenue attribution. |
Assisted revenue | Amount of assisted revenue attributable to the campaign.To learn more, check out the article Revenue attribution. |
Replies |
Number of replies from contacts to the campaign. |
Hard bounces |
Number of contacts who couldn't be delivered to due to a hard bounce. To learn more about bounces, check out the article Understanding bounces and suppressions. |
Soft bounces |
Number of contacts who couldn't be delivered to due to a soft bounce. To learn more about bounces, check out the article Understanding bounces and suppressions. |
Unsubscribe | Number of contacts who unsubscribed as a result of the campaign. |
Highest scoring metric
For every metric, the highest scoring campaign’s result is highlighted in green. This makes it easy to see which campaign is performing better for each metric.
Filter the report
To filter the reports on the email report:
- On the Email report page, select the filter icon in the General information section.
- On the Filter report side panel, choose the type of filter you want to apply.
You can choose:
- With no filter
- In the selected address book
- In the selected segment
- Who received the selected split test version
- Who received the selected dynamic content variation
- Select the address book, segment, split test version, or dynamic content variation you want to filter by.
- Select Apply.
Filters can only be applied to campaigns with Date Ranges set to All Time.
Set date range
To set the date range for individual reports:
- On the Email reports page, select a campaign’s Date Range.
- On the Date options side panel, choose the type of date range you want to apply. You can choose:
- Pre-defined date range
- Custom date range
- Select Apply.
You can reset the date range for all campaigns by selecting Date Range at the top right of the comparison overview page and selecting a date.
Compare a campaign against itself
You can check how a campaign has performed over time by comparing it against itself with different date ranges.
You must first compare two different campaigns before a campaign can be compared against itself.
- From the Performance comparison overview, hover over the campaign image and select the change campaign icon.
- To remove a campaign, select the X next to the campaign you want to remove.
- Select + Add Campaign, and find and select the campaign you want to add.
- Select Apply
- Use Date Range to set different date ranges for each campaign comparison.
Add campaigns to the report
To add campaigns to the comparison table:
- From the Performance comparison overview, hover over the campaign image and select the change campaign icon.
- To add a campaign, select + Add Campaign, and find and select the campaign you want to add.
- Select Apply.
Remove campaigns from the report
To remove campaigns from the comparison table:
- From the Performance comparison overview, hover over the campaign image and select the change campaign icon.
- To remove a campaign, select the red X next to the campaign you want to remove.
- Select Apply.
Reorder the campaigns in the report
To reorder your campaigns:
- From the Performance comparison overview, expand the Compare actions drop-down menu, and then select Change campaigns.
- Drag your campaigns into the order you want.
- Select Apply.
Export the campaign comparison report
To export your campaign comparison report as a CSV file:
- Go to Analytics > Channel analytics > Reports: Email.
- Select the campaigns you want to compare.
You must select at least two campaigns. There is no maximum.
- Expand the More actions drop-down menu and select Compare campaigns.
- Expand the Compare actions drop-down menu and select Export report.
- On the Exports page, wait for your export to finish, then select Download to download the CSV file to your local computer.
