Program extensions: Facebook Audience

You can use a Facebook Audience channel extension in programs to automate adding new contacts to your Facebook audiences. This helps you to maintain and grow your audiences easily, and improve your re-targeting efforts. With this extension, you can also create multiple profiles for a Facebook Audience channel.

To use this extension:

  • You must have or be linked to a Facebook Business account.
  • You can only use a Custom Audience type list in your Facebook Ads Manager.

Once you've created a channel profile, drag a Facebook Audience node into your programs and decide which group of contacts are added to your audiences. Keep in mind that this is a one-way synchronisation, meaning you can only add contacts to your Facebook Audience using this program node.


Creating a Facebook Audience channel profile

To create your Facebook Audience channel profile:

  1. Go to Settings > Channel management.
  2. Under the Channel column, select Facebook Audience.
  3.  Select New profile.
  4. Click Log in to Facebook and do the same on the next page.
  5. Enter your Facebook login details and click Log In.
  6. Confirm your identity (Continue as…) and management settings.
  7. Select the Ad account and Status.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Confirm the profile is in the Facebook Audience area.

Important

Can't see your ad account? You can select only ad accounts that were created from a customer file.

Using the Facebook Audience node in the program builder

After creating a Facebook Audience channel profile, the Facebook Audience node is now available in the program builder under Extensions in the side panel. Where you add the Facebook Audience node in a program’s flow is where your contacts are automatically added to the selected audience.

To create and configure a Facebook Audience node in the program builder:

  1. Select Extensions in the side panel's accordion menu.
  2. Drag and drop the Facebook Audience node into your program.
  3. Select the node to set its action.
  4. Click on Select audience to add contacts to the audience of your choice when they reach this node, or click + New audience.

Important

When creating a new audience, you can only use a Custom Audience list type in Facebook Ads Manager.

You can find your newly created audience in Facebook Ads Manager under Assets > Audiences.


Changing your Facebook Audience profile in the node

To change your Facebook Audience:

  1. Select the Facebook Audience node in the program builder you want to change.
  2. Select Change audience.
  3. Choose a new audience.
  4. Click Apply.

Reading node data

Once your program is activated, you can see how many contacts passed through the node and are now in your audience. You can check this by going to the program builder and looking at the lower right-hand corner of your Facebook Audience node.

Viewing contact figures

To view your audience statistics, in Engagement Cloud, go to Settings > Channel management > Facebook Audience. The Contacts synced in the last 7 days column shows how many contacts have synced in the last seven days for each profile.

Drilling down into contact figures

To drill down and see more contact details, click on the numerical figure under the Contacts synced in the last 7 days column. On the Facebook Audience usage page, you can see how many contact syncs succeeded or failed, and if there are any warnings.

Adjusting the date range

To adjust the date range to see a specific on the Facebook Audience usage page:

  1. Select the Date range button.
  2. Click the current date range (text that’s underlined).

  3. Choose if you want to see a predefined or custom date range - set it however you want.
  4. Click Apply to save the date range you selected.
  5. Click Apply again.

Searching through synced contacts

To view a searchable list of synced contacts and the time at which they joined your audience, under the Contacts synced column, click on the numerical figure. The Contacts panel slides in from the right. To search by email address, use the by email search bar or click the Time synced heading to sort the syncs by latest or oldest.

Information

• Usage statistics are stored for 30 days.
• The number of contacts synced could be greater than the number of contacts in your Facebook Ad Manager audience. This is because Facebook compares a list of contacts with users they know about, so only the contacts that Facebook can match are in your audience.

Deleting or disabling a Facebook Audience profile

You can delete or disable a Facebook Audience profile. Before doing this, please note:

  • You can't delete or disable a profile that's in use in an active program.
  • Deleting a profile deletes all usage statistics for that profile.
  • Disabling a profile stops your team members from selecting the profile in a Facebook Audience node until you enable the profile again.

Deleting

To delete a Facebook Audience profile, in Engagement Cloud:

  1. Go to Settings > Channel management > Facebook Audience.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the name of the profile you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.

Disabling

To disable a Facebook Audience profile, in Engagement Cloud:

  1. Go to Settings > Channel management > Facebook Audience.
  2. Select the name of the profile you want to disable.
  3. Select Disabled next to the Status field.
  4. Click Save.
