Monitoring syncs in Microsoft Dynamics

Learn how to monitor your syncs in Microsoft Dynamics by using the synchronisation audit or synchronisation summary features.

Overview

We offer two ways for you to monitor the status of your syncs with Engagement Cloud: synchronisation audit and synchronisation summary

Selecting instructions for your version of Microsoft Dynamics

Microsoft Dynamics Classic

Using synchronisation audit

The Sync Audit feature shows all data syncs that occurred in the last 30 days. This includes manual and scheduled data syncs. To access your synchronisation audit:

  1. Select from the top menu.
  2. Go to Settings > Email Marketing > Email Accounts.
  3. Select an email account to review its synchronisation schedule.
  4. Select Email Settings.
  5. Select Sync Audit.

Using filter options

You can search the start time using the Start time from and Start time to fields. You can also filter based on type by using the Type drop-down menu.

Expanding sync types

Under the Sync Type column, if the sync type is highlighted, you can get more details by selecting it.

MD_sync_type_column.png For Two-way marketing list sync, you can see the name of the marketing list you are syncing across. Selecting a marketing list name takes you to where you can check out more details about the list and the sync notes.

Checking the status of a sync

The Status column shows you the status of your syncs, such as:

  • In Progress
  • Completed
  • Failed
  • Completed With Errors

Understanding error messages

A marketing list sync could fail because of resourcing problems in your CRM, such as an SQL timeout. If your marketing list sync failed, make sure to check your synchronisation summary. Common error messages are:

  • ERROR_DATAFIELD_INVALID - Failed to sync dataLabel {0} to Engagement Cloud.
A data label failed to sync; {0} is the placeholder for the data label.
  • The CrmEmailCampaign was null. Sync aborted.
The sync fails to add or update the CRM email campaign from the Engagement Cloud email campaign; the CrmEmailCampaign can be null.
  • EmailSendSummaries, EmailClicks, SocialNetworkBookmarks, RoiDetails, PageViews have failed to sync for this Email Campaign.
    As described.
  • Marketing List EmailAccount Id does not match CrmEmailAccountId.
    As described.
  • CrmMarketingList is null. Sync aborted.
This can happen as a part of a single send execute when the target marketing list cannot be retrieved.
  • Feature is not activated in Engagement Cloud.
This shows when contact scoring rules aren’t activated in Engagement Cloud.
  • Marketing list sync didn't start as Data Label sync failed.
    As described.
  • ERROR_NON_UNIQUE_DATAFIELD.
Appears when a failed sync dataLabel {0} to Engagement Cloud occurs.
  • No new objects to sync.
Shows for Campaign Statistics, Forms, Address books to Dynamics, and Two-way marketing list sync, if nothing new is synced.
  • Internal server error.
A generic error message. Something went wrong on our end.
