Chatbots are not currently supported with our WhatsApp integration. Instead, you can use an auto-responder.
The auto-responder is triggered when a contact sends a text message by typing their own response. It won’t trigger if the contact selects a quick reply button. This is intentional, as quick reply buttons often include options like STOP or Stop promotions, and you don’t want the auto-responder to reply to those interactions.
The auto-responder sends a reply every time a contact sends a free text message, with no frequency limitations. You cannot define keywords to trigger the message.
Create an auto-responder for WhatsApp
In Dotdigital, go to Connect > Integrations. Then, search for auto-responder.
Select +ADD, then select INSTALL.
Read about the integration, then select NEXT.
For Channel selection, choose the channels you want your auto-responder to respond to. In this case, select WhatsApp.
For Number selection, expand the Numbers to monitor drop-down menu, then select ALL.
For Response message, enter the message you want the auto-responder to reply with. Try to keep it short.
Select NEXT, then select FINISH.
Your auto-responder is now set up.
