Feature in preview
This feature is currently in Public preview. If you’re interested in using SMS click to unsubscribe, contact your Customer Success representative.
Instead of contacts having to send an SMS message to you in order to unsubscribe, in certain regions it’s possible to allow them to unsubscribe simply by clicking a personalised link in a message you have sent to them.
Making it easier - and free - for contacts who no longer want to hear from you to opt out means that you aren’t increasing your SMS spend by sending to contacts who don’t engage with you, or who might even resort to reporting your messages as spam.

Things you need to know:
SMS click to unsubscribe can be used in many countries, including the UK, Australia, and Singapore. However, due to network or privacy regulations, or best practice guidance, there are countries where this is not recommended. This includes, but is not limited to:
The US and Canada
Malaysia
The Philippines
and more.
You are responsible for ensuring that you adhere to network and privacy regulations in the countries you want to send to and from. If you want to discuss the available options for SMS unsubscribe based on your needs, contact your Customer Success representative.
Learn more in the Regional SMS section of the Help Centre.
The feature is only available on certain account packages.
Contact your Customer Success representative for more information.
If you’re using the default Dotdigital branded short link, the unsubscribe link is 22 characters long. This counts towards the 160 character limit for an SMS segment. If you choose to use a branded domain, you must account for the number of characters in your custom domain.

How click to unsubscribe works for your contacts
When you send an SMS message to your contacts, you can include a personalised link.
When a contact clicks this link, they’re directed to a mobile-friendly Unsubscribe from SMS page. Once they select Unsubscribe, they see immediate confirmation.
As the link is personalised to each campaign and contact, the mobile number on the confirmation page is pre-filled and can’t be edited.
The personalised link also means that you can see in reporting exactly which campaign a contact unsubscribed from.

To add the unsubscribe link, select the Unsubscribe icon at the bottom of the message editor.
In the side panel, select INSERT UNSUBSCRIBE URL. You see the personalisation token $UNSUBSCRIBEURL$ added to the campaign body.
The campaign preview shows how the message appears to your contacts. The URL in the preview is an example only. Do not copy or use this URL.
Save the campaign, and send it when you’re ready.
