Use Dotdigital data in Power BI

Create custom data visualisations in Power BI with your Dotdigital data through our Google Sheets integration.

Power BI allows you to use Google Sheets as a data source to create and share visual reports. You can combine multiple data sources to allow you to monitor campaign performance, assess the health of your customer relationships, and strategically plan your future marketing.

Available data

By connecting your Dotdigital account with Google Sheets, you can expose the following data for use in Power BI:

Google Sheets: Contacts

  • List and segment statistics

  • Name and type

  • Contact count

  • Last updated date

Google Sheets: Campaigns

  • Campaign summary data

  • Date sent, number delivered, bounces

  • Unsubscribes

  • Opens, clicks, and page views

Google Sheets: Forms

  • Form statistics and responses

  • Name and URL

  • First and latest response date

  • Number of completed responses

  • Number of views and bounces

  • Complete responses

  • Optional


Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • The option to connect your Google Sheets data is only available in Power BI Desktop.
    Power BI Desktop is a free application that runs on your local computer. You can download Power BI Desktop directly, or you can get it from the Microsoft Store.

  • You must have installed and set up the Google Sheets integration for the data you want to use in Power BI.


Connect Power BI

  1. In Power BI Desktop, select Home and then select Get data.

  2. In the Get Data window, search for and select Google Sheets.

  3. Select Connect.

  4. Enter the URL for the Google Sheet you want to connect, then select OK.

  5. When prompted, select Sign in and enter the credentials for your Google Sheets account.

  6. Once successfully authenticated, select the sheets you want to import and then select Connect.
