Use Dotdigital data in Tableau

Explore, model, and visualise your Dotdigital data in Tableau through our Google Sheets integration.

Tableau allows you to connect your Google Drive as a data source to create and share visual reports. You can combine multiple data sources to allow you to monitor campaign performance, assess the health of your customer relationships, and strategically plan your future marketing.

Available data

By connecting your Dotdigital account with Google Sheets, you can expose the following data for use in Tableau through Google Drive:

  • List and segment statistics

  • Name and type

  • Contact count

  • Last updated date

Google Sheets: Campaigns

  • Campaign summary data

  • Date sent, number delivered, bounces

  • Unsubscribes

  • Opens, clicks, and page views

Google Sheets: Forms

  • Form statistics and responses

  • Name and URL

  • First and latest response date

  • Number of completed responses

  • Number of views and bounces

  • Complete responses

  • Optional


Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • The option to connect Google Drive is only available in Tableau Desktop.
    Learn more about Tableau desktop.

  • You must have installed and set up the Google Sheets integration for the data you want to use in Tableau.


Connect Tableau

Once you have set up your Dotdigital integration with Google Sheets, you can link Tableau to your Google Drive to import the data.

To do this:

  1. Log in to Tableau Desktop.

  2. Under Connect, select Google Drive.

  3. In the new browser window that opens, enter the credentials for the Google account you want to connect, and select NEXT.

  4. Select Allow to give Tableau access to your Google account, then close the browser window when prompted.

  5. In Tableau Desktop, select the file containing the data you want to use.
