The ability to integrate directly with a Content Management System (CMS) is key for marketers. The Dotdigital for WordPress Surveys, pages and forms widget allows you to convert your WordPress blog or website visitors into sign-ups for your email and SMS marketing campaigns, as well as enrolling them directly into automated programs for continued marketing journeys.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • To be available in the widget, your Dotdigital survey or form must include at least one form element.

  • Your survey or form must be published to appear in the widget.

Access the widget

To access the Surveys, pages and forms widget, you must have installed the Dotdigital WordPress sign up form plugin.

You may need to update the plugin to access the widget.

We recommend you back up your site before performing any updates.

To update:

  1. In the WordPress left-hand menu, go to Updates.

  2. Under Plugins, select the check box for the Dotdigital plugin.

  3. Select Update Plugins.

Add a survey or form to your site

You can add a Dotdigital survey or form to any WordPress site area that accepts widgets, or to an individual post or page.

Add to a widget area

  1. In the WordPress left-hand menu, go to Appearance > Widgets.

  2. Expand the drop-down for the page area where you want the widget to appear.

  3. Select either:

    1. The + icon in the top left of the Widgets screen, then under Widgets, select Dotdigital Surveys, Pages, and Forms.

      OR

    2. The + tile in the location on your page where you want the widget to be placed, then select Dotdigital Surveys, Pages and Forms.

  4. Expand the SELECT A FORM drop-down menu and select your survey or form.
You see a preview of your selected survey or form.

  5. Select the Settings icon in the top right, then select the widget.

  6. Select the Block tab and expand the Configuration drop-down menu.

  7. Expand the Style drop-down menu and select either Embedded or Popover.
If you select Popover, see the section Configure a popover below.

You can also access the Dotdigital Surveys, Pages, and Forms widget through Appearance > Customize > Widgets. Select the page area, then select the + icon to add the widget.

Add to a page or post

  1. Edit the post or page where you want the survey or form to appear.
Alternatively, you can create a new post or page to add the survey or form to.

  2. Select the Add block icon.

  3. Search for Dotdigital, then select Dotdigital Surveys, Pages, and Forms.

  4. Select the Settings icon in the top right, then select the widget.

  5. Select the Block tab and expand the Configuration drop-down menu.

  6. Expand the Style drop-down menu and select either Embedded or Popover.
If you select Popover, see the section Configure a popover below.

Configure a popover

If you selected Popover, you can configure the following settings:

  1. SHOW AFTER

Drag the slider or enter a number into the text field to set the number of seconds after arrival on the page the popover should display.

  2. STOP DISPLAYING

    • Expand the drop-down menu and select either When the form is closed or Only when the form is completed.

    • Use the switch to set whether to display the popover on mobile view.
We don’t recommend displaying popovers on mobile.

    • Use the switch to enable users to close the popover using the Esc key on their keyboard.

  3. DIALOG WIDTH
Drag the slider or enter a number into the text field to set the width in pixels of the popover window.

  4. When you’re happy with the setup of your survey or form, select Update.
