Set your automated messages

Learn to set up automated messages for your Chat widget.

Overview 

Automated messages are messages automatically sent to your chat users at various points throughout the chat timeline. 

We have three automated message options:

Before you start

You must be a Chat admin to create and edit automated messages.

Setting your Welcome message

We automatically send the welcome message to your visitors when they start a chat session.

To create a welcome message:

  1. In Engagement Cloud, go to Chat > Settings.
  2. Under Automated messages > Welcome message, select Enable.
  3. Enter your message in the box labelled enter welcome message here.
  4. Select Save.

Setting your End of chat message

We automatically send the end of chat message to your visitors at the end of a chat session.

To create an end of chat message:

  1. In Engagement Cloud, go to Chat > Settings.
  2. Under Automated messages > End of chat message, select Enable.
  3. Enter your message in the box labelled enter end of chat message here.
  4. Select Save.

Setting your Out of hours message

We automatically send the out of hours message to your visitors when they try to start a chat session out of your working hours.

To create an out of hours message:

  1. In Engagement Cloud, go to Chat > Settings.
  2. Under Automated messages > Team working hours, select Enable.
  3. Under Team working hours, set your team working hours.

  4. Enter your message in the box labelled enter out of hours message here.
  5. Select Save.
