Sync Nosto segments to Dotdigital

Learn how to synchronise Nosto behavioural data and new contacts from pop-overs to Dotdigital.

Overview

The integration between Nosto and Dotdigital can synchronise your Nosto segments to a Dotdigital contact data field. The integration creates a new data field against your contacts which holds the names of any Nosto segments a contact belongs to.

To learn more about Nosto segments, check out Nosto's support documentation.

You can use Nosto's behavioural data to create segments within Dotdigital for targeted sending, or to power dynamic content in your email campaigns.

To learn more, check out the articles Create a segment and Using the dynamic content block.

You can also choose to have contact email addresses collected through a Nosto onsite pop-over imported directly into a Dotdigital address book.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You need an active Nosto account
  • You must create an API user in Dotdigital, as you need to add these credentials in Nosto to enable the integration. You need to be a Dotdigital user who is either an account owner, or has the Can manage account permission enabled to create and view API users.

To learn more, check out the articles Getting started with the API and Restrict and grant user access permissions.

The integration updates all contacts in Dotdigital who are matched in Nosto by email address, and creates new Dotdigital contacts for those who only currently exist in Nosto.

Synchronise individual Nosto segments to Dotdigital

The data sync happens twice a day at 2:47 AM and PM.

During synchronisation, Nosto creates a Contact data field called NOSTOSEGMENT in Dotdigital. The data field is populated with the value of the Nosto segment names that a contact belongs to. Multiple values are separated by a pipe character.data_field_example.png
