Subject lines play a key role in whether your contacts open your emails. You can split test up to 10 subject line variations in a single email campaign. Use suggestions generated by WinstonAI or create your own to see which version performs best.

Use subject line suggestions

When creating an email campaign, you can use the subject line assistant to generate alternative subject lines. As you type your subject line, up to three AI-generated suggestions appear automatically.

You can refresh the suggestions to see new options, or apply one directly to your campaign.

Create split test versions

Create multiple subject line versions during campaign setup using AI-generated suggestions or your own ideas. Each version is saved in a separate tab, allowing you to test and compare their performance once the campaign is sent.

To create split test versions using subject line suggestions:

  1. Start typing your subject line in the campaign creation step. Up to three AI-generated suggestions appear automatically.

  2. Select the A/B test button next to a suggestion to create a new version of your campaign with that subject line. The new version appears in a tab above Campaign details.

  3. Stay on the same tab to continue using the subject line assistant. If you switch tabs, the assistant closes and the suggestions currently displayed are lost. To make the most of the AI-generated suggestions, create all the versions you want before switching tabs.

  4. Repeat the process to create more versions.
You can create up to 10 versions of the subject line.
If you reach the limit, the A/B test buttons become disabled and display a message when hovered over.

You can also manually edit any version after it’s created, allowing you to fine-tune subject lines or test variations of the same suggestion.

View split test results

Once your campaign has been sent, you can view the results of your split test in the Campaign reports area:

  1. Go to Analytics > Reports.

  2. Select Email reports tab.

  3. Find your campaign and select it.

  4. Open the Split test tab and use the filters to see the results per split test variation.
The report shows key metrics such as open rate, click-through rate, and conversions for each version, helping you identify which subject line performed best.
