Use the premium messaging wallet

Pay upfront for premium SMS and WhatsApp sends, then draw down the balance as you send.

The premium messaging wallet lets you make a one-off payment, then deducts your send costs from the balance as your campaigns go out. You can top up your wallet at any time.

If you've secured a special rate, that rate applies until your wallet balance reaches zero. After that, sends revert to the variable pay-as-you-go rate. Contact your Customer Success representative to learn more about special rates.

You can add money to your wallet at any time, and the send costs are deducted from your wallet balance as you send your campaigns.

Top-up your premium messaging wallet

To add funds, contact your Customer Success representative to complete an order form.


Track your wallet spending

To track how much you spend from your premium messaging wallet:

  1. Expand the User menu and go to Settings > General > Usage.

  2. In the Premium messaging wallet area, view the following details:

    • Current wallet balance

      The total amount currently in your wallet. If this reaches 0.00, additional sends are invoiced to you.

    • Type

      The transaction type. For example, Wallet top up.

    • Amount

      The original top-up amount. This doesn't change as you spend.

    • Days until expiry

      The number of days until your top-up amount expires.

    • Expiry date
      The date your top-up amount expires.

Expiry of monetary wallet credit

Premium messaging wallet top-ups last for one year from the date of purchase.

Balance notifications and alerts

Dotdigital sends an email notification when your wallet is empty. You can also set up a notification for when your balance falls below an amount you specify.

To set up the wallet amount notification:

  1. Expand the User menu and go to Settings > General > Account settings.

  2. Under Features, select the Enable Premium Messaging wallet low balance alerts check box.

  3. Enter an alert amount in the box.

  4. Select SAVE SETTINGS.

Notifications go to the account owner and any users with the Can manage account permission enabled.

Understand your invoice

As you send premium SMS campaigns, your invoice tracks the cost deducted from your premium messaging wallet, plus the overall total in the SMS segments area. If you exceed your top-up amount, the invoice also includes pay-as-you-go charges for the additional sends.

Your invoice shows the following details for premium SMS sends:

  • Account
    The account holder who sent the messages.

  • Country
    The destination country for the messages.

  • Quantity
    The number of sends and their cost.

  • Effective from
    The date the rate last changed for the destination country.

  • Cost
    The total cost of the send.

  • SMS segments cost
    The total cost of SMS segments.

  • Premium message wallet deductions
    The amount deducted from your premium messaging wallet.

  • SMS segments subtotal ex tax
    The subtotal of SMS segments, excluding tax.
