Best sellers is a non-personalised recommendation type. You can use filters in the recommendation builder to refine the product list and align it with your campaign goals. For example, you might choose to show best selling female running shoes under £100.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • This recommendation can generate a total of 10 results.

  • Ensure that your product catalog is accurately synced with Dotdigital to help the system process real-time data efficiently.

Create a Best sellers product recommendation

  1. Go to Content > Products > Recommendations.

  2. Select CREATE RECOMMENDATION.

  3. Hover over the Best sellers tile, and select SELECT.

Dependencies

To use Best sellers, you should review the Insight data dependencies for this type of recommendation.

You must also ensure the following:

  • You have synced data to your account.

  • You have orders for products in your catalog.

  • Products have a price greater than zero.

  • Confirm that product datasets are up-to-date and representative of current inventory to avoid inaccuracies.

Data used when building a recommendation

Best sellers recommendations are built from your entire Insight data collection, however, the builder applies a weighting curve to ensure that recommendations remain relevant over time.

Additionally, while the Best sellers recommendation tool applies a weighting curve for relevance, it does not support filtering for the newest products. For promoting newly arrived products, consider using New in store recommendation type, or configure a custom category recommendation which updates periodically.

Troubleshoot display issues and customization

  • Group-level configurations: Update settings to recommend parent products instead of grouped items to avoid exclusions caused by variants.

  • Testing: After making adjustments, validate whether desired products appear accurately by testing the email campaigns.
