View contact details in chat

See information about a contact you’re chatting with.

Chats are easier to manage when you have some context about who the person you are chatting with is.

To help with this, we display some standard information about identified contacts alongside the chat, as well as allow you to choose which contact data fields you want to display in the chat interface, up to a maximum of 20.


Contact information

Before you start

To see information in this panel, you must have already identified and added a contact's information. If your contact is unidentified, you only see Anonymous contact.

The contact information panel shows you the contact’s name, email address, and phone number. For webchat, we also display the date the user first visited your site, and the last visit to your site.

You can access the Single customer view for a user directly from the chat interface. To do this, select View contact in the right hand panel.


Data fields

You can select up to 20 contact data fields to display in the right hand panel of the chat interface.

To do this:

  1. Open a chat to access the contact information panel.

  2. Under Data fields, select Choose data fields.

  3. Select the data fields you want to display.
    This selection applies for all chat conversations, and is not applied on an individual chat basis.

  4. Select APPLY.
