Set up Chat in Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce

Add the Dotdigital Chat widget to your store to offer your customers direct one-to-one support.

Our fully customisable Chat widget is the perfect way to communicate with your customers whenever they are browsing your store. Use the Chat widget to offer product support and improve customer satisfaction.


Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You can set up and customise Chat directly from your Dotdigital account.
    ​Learn more in Chat.

  • You need to grant your Dotdigital users permission to access the Chat as agents.
    ​Learn more in Restrict and grant user access permissions.


Enable Chat in Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce

  1. Go to Stores > Configuration > DOTDIGITAL > Chat Settings.

  2. Expand the Enabled drop-down menu and select Yes.

  3. Select SAVE Config.


Configure Chat settings

  1. Go to Stores > Configuration > DOTDIGITAL > Chat Settings.

  2. For Configure Chat, select Configure.

This opens the Chat settings page in your connected Dotdigital account. From here you can:


Enable Chat team permissions

The users in your Dotdigital account must be granted permission to access Chat as agents, to do this:

  1. In your Dotdigital account, expand the User menu and go to Settings > Users and teams > Users.

  2. Go to Users and teams > Users.

  3. Select the email address of the user you want to edit.

  4. Under Settings, select the Default permissions tab.

  5. For Can use Chat, select Yes.
    ​

  6. Select SAVE.
