Change the linked URL in a sent email campaign

Accidents happen, and sometimes campaigns get sent with an incorrect URL in one of the links.

An incorrect link in an email has happened to just about every marketer. Thankfully, you can correct those broken URLs after sending them.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You cannot change default links, such as Unsubscribe, Double opt-in, and View in the browser.

  • You cannot change the link text or images, only the destination URL of the link.

  • You cannot change links created using the Links to a page tool.

  • URL updates take effect immediately.

  • When updates are applied, URLs only change on the live send. You won't see them in previews or in any copies of the campaign.

  • The preview feature is static and shows the email exactly as it was at the time of sending. Updated URLs do not appear in previews or test sends, only in the live version received by contacts.

Change the linked URL in a sent email campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns > Email > Sent and find the campaign.

  2. Select the Summary (page) icon for the campaign name.

  3. On the summary page, select View/Edit next to Hyperlinks.

  4. From the link editor, select the Edit (Pencil) icon next to the link.

  5. Update the URL. When done, Select the Save (tick) icon to save.

Verify your updated link

After saving your changes, you can confirm the update in two ways:

  1. Check the Campaign summary
Go to Summary > Hyperlinks and make sure the updated URL appears in the table.

  2. Check the live email in your inbox
Open the original sent email and click the link.
If it opens the new destination, the update has been applied successfully.

You cannot send a test version of a sent campaign. Always check the original email in your inbox instead.
