Search for a contact

Find and take action on specific contacts.

Before you start

Things you need to know:

  • You can search for contacts using their full email address, mobile number, or parts of them.

  • You can filter by domain (for example, dotdigital.com) or custom IDs.

Required permissions

To use this feature, you must be an account owner or have the following user permission:

  • Contacts

Search contacts

  1. Go to Audience > Contacts.

  2. In the Search field, expand the left side drop-down menu to select the identifier type you want to search by.

    • Email

    • Mobile number

    • Domain
      For example, dotdigital.com.

    • Any custom IDs you have created.
      Learn more in Use custom identifiers.

  3. Enter your search terms in the text field, such as the email address or mobile number you want to search for.
    If you're searching by domain, enter the full domain, for example, dotdigital.com instead of just dotdigital.

  4. Select the search icon or press enter on your keyboard. Your contacts matching the search are returned in a list.

  5. If you want to perform additional actions on the contact or list of contacts, then select the contact’s check box and expand the MORE ACTIONS drop-down menu.


Contact actions

To perform actions on one or more contacts:

  • Select the checkbox next to each contact you want to include.

  • Expand the MORE ACTIONS drop-down menu and choose from:

Action

Help centre article

Copy to list

Copy all the selected contacts into an existing list.

Send previously sent campaign

Send the selected contacts an email or SMS campaign from your sent campaigns list.

Delete from account

Remove all selected contacts from your account.

Suppress from account

Add the selected contacts to the suppressed contacts list with the reason Suppressed by you.

You're no longer able to send to these contacts on the suppressed channels.

Unsubscribe from account

Unsubscribe a contact on an individual channel level, or at a contact level, so they no longer receive any marketing communications from you on either channel.
