Learn how to use product recommendations to promote the right products to your contacts.
Use product recommendations to define the products you want to recommend to your contacts. Each product recommendation is made up of two options:
How you recommend products, for example, best sellers, most viewed, and more.
- Filters (optional)
How you want to filter the recommended products, for example, female running shoes less than £100.
If you are an ecommerce retailer, you can use product recommendations to add dynamic product content to your campaigns.
Before you start
Things you need to know before you start to use product recommendations:
- You must connect your ecommerce store to your account. You can do this using one of our integration solutions.

Types of product recommendations
Depending on the Insight data you have synced to your account, you can use these recommendation types:
- Custom category
Uses only the filters you define to select a single product set from your catalog, with no extra statistics being considered.
- Best sellers
Calculates the best selling products in your catalog.
- Most viewed
Calculates the most viewed products in your catalog.
Calculates trending products in your catalog by analysing data from best sellers and most viewed products.
Machine learning powered to predict and suggest optimal product sets based on your contacts' past purchase and browsing behaviour.
- Best next
Machine learning powered to predict the next products in the customer journey by matching to similar shoppers.
- Hybrid prediction
Machine learning powered to predict the next products in the customer journey by combining similar shoppers and item affinities.
- Also bought
Shows the most popular products that customers also bought alongside other products.
- Last browsed
Shows the products your customers last browsed.
Data enrichment for filters
Before you can filter a type of product recommendation, you need additional data about each product such as colour and price. To get this additional data, you can use our product data enrichment feature, which leverages artificial intelligence to collect more data about your products.
Using product recommendations
Go to Ecommerce > Product recommendations. Here, you can choose a type, and, depending on the type, add additional filters in the recommendation builder. Once you have created a product recommendation, it will be available as a block inside your account’s EasyEditor.
Product recommendation blocks can be dragged into your campaigns like other types of block. Once you have added a recommendation, you can change its basic layout and preview it.
Product recommendation refresh intervals
Product recommendations can refreshed both manually and automatically.
The Product recommendation list view and previews in the product recommendation builder must be refreshed manually.
In addition, we refresh your product recommendations automatically at the following intervals:
- General and personalised recommendations: every 1 day
- Machine learning recommendations: every 7 days
