Overview
You can choose to enrol contacts into automation programs that you have set up in your Dotdigital account. These enrolments could happen, for instance, when certain visitor actions take place on your site or when a contact's order status changes.
Access automation settings by going to System > Configuration > Dotdigital > Automation.
Adding contacts to a program
Via a visitor action
To do this, follow these steps:
- Create the program or programs you wish to enrol a various type of contact into within your Dotdigital account.
- Select Visitor action automation enrolment.
- From the associated dropdown lists, select the appropriate program into which you wish to enrol the various types of contacts.
- Click Save Config in the top right. Magento will then confirm that the settings have been saved. From now on, these types of contacts will be enrolled into the program or programs you've selected and will receive campaigns accordingly.
Information
If you enable automation enrolment for the 'New Customer' visitor action, you must disable the default Magento email, which is labelled 'Customer Success'.
If you enable automation enrolment for the 'New Subscriber' visitor action, you must disable the default Magento email, which is labelled 'Newsletter Success'.
To disable a default Magento email, go to System > Configuration > Dotdigital > Configuration > Admin.
Via an order status change
To do this, follow these steps:
- Again, create the program or programs you wish to enrol a various type of contact into within your Dotdigital account.
- Select Order status automation enrolment.
- Select the order status type from which you'd like to enrol upon.
- Choose the automation program you'd like to enrol contacts into for this order status type.
- Click Save Config in the top right. Magento will then confirm that the settings have been saved. From now on, contacts with this order status type will be enrolled into the program selected and will receive campaigns accordingly.
- Click on Add New Enrolment to create more order status type enrolments.
FAQs
I don't seem to have any programs to select from. Why is that?
This could either be because your API credentials are invalid or you have not yet set up a program in your Dotdigital account. Find out about setting up programs.
How frequently do you enrol contacts into automation programs?
The feature works by batching and enrolling contacts into programs every 15 minutes.
